What is the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
The greatest news the world has ever heard
The gospel is the good news that the holy God who created all things has graciously made a way for guilty sinners like us to be reconciled to Himself through the life, death, and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. The gospel is not advice about what we must do to earn God's favor, but the joyful announcement of what God has already accomplished in Christ for helpless sinners.
From beginning to end, salvation belongs to the Lord. It is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, according to Scripture alone, and ultimately for the glory of God alone.
Why We Need the Gospel?
God created us in His image to know Him, worship Him, delight in Him, and glorify Him forever. Yet every one of us has sinned against Him. Our rebellion has separated us from God, left us spiritually dead, and placed us under His righteous judgment. No amount of morality, religion, or good works can reconcile us to Him. If God were to judge us according to our sins, we would all stand condemned and deserve His righteous judgment.
What Christ Has Done?
Out of His rich mercy, God sent His eternal Son, Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, He lived the perfectly righteous life we failed to live. On the cross He willingly bore the punishment our sins deserved, satisfying God's wrath and justice completely. On the third day, He rose bodily from the grave, conquering sin and death forever. His finished work is perfect, complete, and sufficient for everyone who believes.
How God Saves?
God freely justifies sinners by His grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Everyone who repents of sin and trusts in Jesus Christ is forgiven, declared righteous through Christ's righteousness, adopted into God's family, and given eternal life. Salvation is God's gracious gift, not the reward of human effort.
The New Life Christ Gives
Those who belong to Christ receive the Holy Spirit, who gives them a new heart and begins the lifelong work of conforming them to the likeness of Christ. Though believers still battle sin, God faithfully sanctifies His children and will one day glorify them in His presence. Salvation not only rescues us from God's judgment but restores us to know, love, worship and enjoy Him forever.
Come to Christ Today
If you recognize your sin and your need of a Savior, knowing that time is short in front of us and we have an eternity to spend – either in heaven with Christ or in hell separated from Him, please do not wait until you think you are good enough. Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners. He receives all who come to Him in repentance and faith. Trust in Christ alone to save you and rest completely in His finished work. There is forgiveness, peace with God, and eternal life in Him alone. The Lord promises to create in us a new heart, renewing our thoughts and attitudes, giving us the power and desire to do what pleases Him, patiently transforming us step by step until the day He completes the good work He has started, Amen.
